Summer and Warmth

Summer has feverishly swum into April with a kind of fiery madness that likes to knock you into sleep and lure you into the bathroom for a very cool and much needed shower. Splashing water on your face is a nirvana and greedily gulping down a glass of water is a blessing. It has rained a couple of times this past week. I welcomed the rain with open arms, although I just sat in the foyer bobbing my head to music. I am always enamored with the smell of rain. It embraced me through open windows and billowing curtains, droplets shy and lingering. My diminutive friends.

But right now it isn't raining and the house is a furnace. I am roasting. Two stand fans are standing in two corners. I'm about to watch Hannibal NBC episode 4 although the link I have may be phony (it turns out it isn't - yay!). The heat is hypnotizing me into a dreamy state, the silent brr of the fans a cat's purr and the sun a blinding gold and immaculate white. I've been hanging onto winter through Eowyn Ivey's The Snow Child, a wintry mixture of joy and longing, and I can almost taste the dazzling intricacy of snowflakes, the snow angels mirrors of the guardians we can be. 2.30 in the afternoon and I am gasping for a bed of ice, a welcoming reprieve from the onslaught of summer.

But! I love the night, the nights. Although they could be hot and humid too, the darkness feels somewhat full and deep, a mirage of shadows and esoteric magic. I like the night because the village is humming but quiet, a heap of sleepy sighs and breaths or, if not that, a chatter in some certain lots, a feast for the ghouls of night. It's funny how things have an opposite, an anti or a pro, and I like that. It keeps the world interesting. It keeps people busy and sane.

Before I end this shamefully brusque post I want to share with you what was meant to be the whole point of this entry. At first I didn't know what to write about so I liked to enumerate three videos I've been watching/have watched the past few nights while I had my headphones on and felt at least a little bit happy. Mirth. And warmth. Always with the warmth.

1. Call Me Maybe (Hannibal NBC)

Hannibal NBC is very serious and stars enough blood and darkness that make me squirm and frown. So this is a glacial and merry reprieve from all that horror and tight suspense, although there are some scenes that do suggest humor (but that may also be based on who's viewing the show). I am wary of Dr Lecter and my compassion for Will Graham is lengthy in words I can't express.

Countless of fanmade work make me giggle. This is one of those things.

Courtesy of YouTube user Colonel8Custard who recorded such a good performance. For some unknown reason I can't insert the video here so I'll establish a link in its place.

I discovered the Bastille band just recently and I am glad I did! They had covered Corona's Rhythm of the Night and here they play it live with zest. The drumming washes a grin upon my face, and as we near the end of the video I cheer along with the crowd because I can.

3. On thin ice 4

I watch with amazement. I cry because this man is who I want to be when I am 48.

Nomads in a House

Hi!

Urgh. So it's summer and the place is boiling like the pits of hell and the ones of an old guy. My brother and I are left in the house during weekdays when our parents are working and we move from one room to another. We're kind of nomadic in this house and our days are filled to the brim with boredom and fun (yet with excessive boredom) – two improbable things entwined together. My brother is still the freak he is and shows to be; no changes there. (If said brother reads that sentence in the future, I will not apologize for it is, and maybe still will be, the darn truth.)

I’ve read a couple of books and this apparently includes John Green. Last March 31st, I evolved into a Nerdfighter (and I think I am not so punctual, oops) and I can finally thrust this upon you, my reader: DFTBA. These days, I usually wake up around nine or ten, but once I rose from the dead at approximately twelve in the afternoon; this sucks because I like mornings when classes aren’t there to intersect, although sleeping is also magical. My hair is suffering and I’m letting it, meh. I’m this hobo/hermit during summer and my mood swings are in the process of making me a psycho. If you see me walking around in the mall or anywhere else, remember to keep your distance or else I might stab you shyly with the hair of a hobo and the liveliness of a tree. DFTBA, DFTBA, sorry.

I am also trying to improve my vocabulary even more. I had mentioned reading and now I peruse Merriam-Webster (dictionary) like I haven’t before. I’ve been writing a lot, too! Fanfiction, that is. Someone made me a “favorite author” of theirs this week (it’s my second time to be somebody’s) and omg it feels UHmazing. I’ve been tweeting exponentially. My timeline is dead most of the time during the day so I flood frequently, tweeting to nobody in particular.

I sleep beside a wall where ants crawl. I’m actually alright with it as long as they don’t come flinging their bodies at me, unless those ants are attempting suicide. The pillows I lay my head on and cuddle with have their pillowcases lavished with Disney Princesses whose faces I smother with my hands and skull. I tend to listen to music hours before sleeping. I sleep around 12:30 in the morning; I have grown to be the night guard here. I force my brother to rewatch a few episodes of Avatar: The Last Airbender with me, but we still watch Adventure Time.

Sorry, this isn't the wall. It's the ceiling.

I did see The Hunger Games. Twice. Jennifer Lawrence did an outstanding job portraying Katniss Everdeen. I applaud her and her ability to be flawless yet human. The cast was also wonderful, bringing the characters to life – they did. There were disappointments but I’d rather not point them out. NOW I’m eager to know who they’ll cast as my baby Finnick Odair. Please, not Pettyfer.

OH AND I AM ALSO going to share with you the ship I currently sail:

                    source

I hunted down the first two episodes of Legend of Korra online and I am already SHIPPING THEM SO LUMPING HARD due to my fangirl instincts with a certain spoiler which is like half a second long but WEEEEEEEE MY EMOTIONS OK.
And it just so happens that Korra is a riveting badass as the Avatar and Mako is ridiculously attractive with those eyebrows. Bless this ship. Bless your cow. But I have heart palpitations not only for the couple. I love Meelo and Bolin and Tenzin and KATARA and everyone else on the good side. Amon creeps me out with his Equalist buddies. I need to vent or I might just flip tables. Flip tables everywhere especially for older Aang.

Okay. DFTBA! Be the leaf!

Oh hi Summer

Can't you believe it?!

The exams are finally over!!!!!!! Please wait for a second as I scream with joy and freedom. "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAOOOOOAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!"
Thank you. As I was doing that, countless of thoughts ran through my mind. Some were excited. Joyful. Greatful. Tired. And even worrisome. I guess I worry too much about the future. About my next school year at a different school with different faces and voices. Hah. But what the heck? The exams are OOOVERRRR!!!!!

This school year has been exciting. Fun-filled and so beautiful. But, of course, there are also bad parts. But I skip all those. Right now, I'm thinking of summer.
Summer. I like the ring of that word. SUMMER. SUMMER. Kind of like High School Musical 3 but I'm not blogging about that. I'm blogging about SUUMMERR. Summer is beautiful and it's hot. I can't wait to enjoy it. No classes which means no schoolwork. Yesssssss, I mentally hiss.

What's so beautiful about summer? Well, there are plenty of great things about summer. It's vacation time. I can already smell and breathe in the freedom summer vacation brings. Summer is when you can do anything you want without any schoolwork butting in to destruct all the fun. Summer is when you get sunburned and that's your choice. Summer is when you can either tweet all day or spend your days outdoors. Summer is awesome.

I'm not so emotional when it comes to saying goodbye to someone you have known for the whole school year but sometimes it's just sad. I love my friends. They're just so funny and different and I love them. You know they're your friends when they do the stupidest things with you. You know they're your friends when you frantically hiss "O CRAP, GRACE, LOOK." and they help you with all the girl stuff. You know they're your friends when you guys laugh at the same things that shouldn't be laughed at but you just can't help laughing your butt off. You know they're your friends when you tease them but they still love you as who you are. So, this is my point: I love my friends.

I don't know if I'm gonna see them again someday. I don't know if this is actually "Goodbye forever". I don't know if they'll still remember me after 4 years. But, hey, I'm just so greatful I have made great friends throughout my elementary life. I have 3 best friends. Jesceline, who is just super sweet and graceful. Nathalie, who kicks butt harder than Chuck Norris. And Grace, who just makes us crack up violently. Sigh. I have to admit, even though they're freakingly different, I love them so much.
